Current Events

Scrabble is fun way for kids to keep learning during summer vacation, and studies show that playing Scrabble strengthens reading, math skills, and builds vocabulary.

Kids entering 5th through 8th grade are invited to join us for Scrabble Camp every Monday from July 12 - August 9.

Volunteer coaches will teach tips and tricks to play better Scrabble and have a lot of fun doing it. Kids learn to be gracious winners and challengers; and become good team players. They encourage one another, compliment good play, and win prizes! We track each person’s progress, and every player will be recognized on the last day of camp.

Monday, July 12 - Kick-off session, which includes training on how to play and tips for earning higher points
Chelsea District Library McKune Room: 5:30-7pm
Registration begins at 5:00pm.

Mondays, July 19-August 9: The remaining four sessions will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church (across from the Chelsea Fairgrounds) from 6–9pm.

Please see the St. Barnabas Chelsea website for registration forms and details.

About Us

We at St. Barnabas believe that all the baptized are called to ministry, and that everyone has a part to play. The congregation of St. Barnabas has been especially called to the following ministries.

  • Music - including service music and outreach in the form of periodic concerts
  • Feeding the hungry - St. Barnabas created a garden on the front lawn as part of the "Plant a row for the hungry" program. Produce from the garden is donated to Food Gatherers for distribution to people who need it. Canned and dry food is also collected throughout the year and donated.
  • Making worship accessible - both physical and attitudinal accesibility, is very important to us at St. Barnabas.
  • Reaching the marginalized - We believe God cares about all people, including those routinely marginalized by society. Reaching out to all people in the community around us is absolutely vital to the life of our parish.

We recognize that as we grow spiritually and in number, our ministries will also grow and change, and that we will hopefully become stronger and better agents for change.
